Rethinking circular | From profit to prosperity: the role of ethical finance
The high environmental and economic value of the circular economy consists in the ability to limit the consumption of non-renewable resources and the production of waste, which in recent decades have reached unsustainable levels for the carrying capacity of our planet.
Finance is called to assume a leading role in supporting this process to orient investments towards sustainable and long-term activities that generate economic added value, whilst ensuring the achievement of positive impacts and results for the environment and the society.
“From profit to prosperity: the role of ethical finance” is part of a series of meetings entitled “Rethinking Circular“ promoted by the Alumni and Amici Associations of the University of Padua. It seeks to promote and bring together both the great community of the University of Padua and those who in their academic and professional careers have distinguished themselves in the different fields of the circular economy.
It provides an opportunity for further deepening and broadening the debate on the role of finance in the current national and international socioeconomic context, and in light of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.
The event is organized with the collaboration of the Alumni Università di Padova San Francisco & Bay Area Chapter – Voci dalla West Coast.
L’elevato valore ambientale ed economico dell’economia circolare consiste nella capacità di limitare il consumo di risorse non rinnovabili e la produzione di rifiuti, che negli ultimi decenni hanno raggiunto livelli ormai insostenibili per le capacità di carico del nostro Pianeta.
La finanza è chiamata ad assumere un ruolo di primo piano nel sostenere questo processo con l’obiettivo di orientare gli investimenti verso attività sostenibili e di lungo periodo che generino un plusvalore economico ed al tempo stesso garantiscano il raggiungimento di impatti e risultati positivi per l’ambiente e la società.
L’incontro “From profit to prosperity: the role of ethical finance” è promosso, nell’ambito del più ampio ciclo “Ripensare Circolare”, dalle Associazioni Alumni e Amici dell’Università di Padova per valorizzare, far incontrare e interagire la più ampia comunità dell’Ateneo di Padova e coloro che nella loro carriera accademica e professione si sono distinti nei diversi ambiti dell’economia circolare.
Un’occasione di approfondimento e dibattito sul ruolo della finanza nell’attuale contesto socio-economico nazionale e internazionale e nella prospettiva fissata dall’Agenda 2030 delle Nazioni Unite per lo sviluppo sostenibile.
L’evento è organizzato in collaborazione con il Chapter Alumni Università di Padova di San Francisco & Bay Area – Voci dalla West Coast.
