The speaker: Silvia De Grandis

I’m Silvia De Grandis, originally from Italy and now based in Berlin, where I work in Talent Acquisition for the gaming industry. My journey began with a passion for reading and writing, which led me to become a finalist in the Campiello Giovani literary award in 2012. This experience fueled my love for language, and I went on to study Modern Literature at the University of Padua. Later, motivated by the idea of a career in Academia, I moved to the Netherlands to pursue a Research Master’s Degree at the University of Amsterdam with a strong focus on Linguistics.

Moving abroad broadened my horizons and guided me in understanding Academia was not my path, but rather the corporate world. I have been working in acquiring talent in the gaming industry since 2019, and I hire for various teams building games, working across both product development, marketing, and supporting teams. I also lead internal training sessions and speak publicly on topics related to HR, talent acquisition, and diversity and inclusion, helping others understand the intricate dynamics of the gaming industry.
Currently I work at Wooga, a 340-people mobile game developer focused on narrative games for a female audience. As a Women in Games Ambassador, I’m committed to promoting Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, working toward better representation both in the content of games and in the teams behind them.

In my free time, I volunteer with children, whose energy brings balance to my life, and enjoy doing Improvisational theater, which sharpens my public speaking and quick thinking skills.
